Elizabeth Clark
My name is Elizabeth Clark and I am currently an internal medical trainee in the Northern region. Since third year of medical school I have been interested in pursuing a career in care of the elderly. I particularly enjoy the focus on holistic medicine care of the elderly aims to deliver, whilst also coordinating with the multidisciplinary team to provide care that keeps older people as well as possible for as long as possible. My individual areas of interest are falls prevention and reducing polypharmacy. In my spare time I am a keen horse rider and runner.
I joined the Northern committee as I wanted to widen my knowledge of both the care of the elderly specialty and the responsibilities of professionals in associated specialised roles (such as those in the community). It is also a great opportunity to network with and meet other members in other areas of the country to compare experiences and practice.
As a junior representative on the committee I feel it is important to convey the experience of juniors in the region in the care of the elderly speciality and to also widen the knowledge of my colleagues of opportunities in the speciality.
