James Adams

I am very much hoping you will vote for me to become the next Deputy Honorary Secretary of the Society.

I have occupied several senior leadership roles within our local system, developing a reputation for quality improvement and service redesign and I continue to work closely as one of the clinical leads in the Acute Frailty Network. Now I would like to use my passion and skills to help deliver strategic change and influence national policy to improve the care of older people across the UK and beyond.

Locally, I am Chief of Service for Frailty and Community service, co-authored a system wide Frailty strategy and developed a Frailty Academy. I am committed to building a multi-professional workforce able to meet the needs of an ageing population, including investing in our allied healthcare professionals, nursing and primary care colleagues.

I am at the heart of transformation and integration locally and can give key insights as to how national policy is filtering down and how the BGS can continue its excellent work in influencing this change.

No doubt we are at a tipping point in the NHS, where prioritisation of older peoples care is vulnerable, but I have never stopped believing that anything is possible. I am keen to offer my own insights in to shaping the future direction of the Society alongside supporting the BGS in delivery of its strategic goals as part of the wider NHS.
