Appreciation Wall: Nominate an inspirational colleague

Throughout the pandemic, the BGS has been aware of the exceptional work of our members in responding to the COVID-19 crisis. With deep sadness we have also learnt that several of our members have died while undertaking their clinical duties. As part of the Spring Meeting programme, we would like to invite our members to recognise the contributions of those who have worked in older people’s healthcare by submitting a short profile for our virtual Appreciation Wall.

We are keen to celebrate and remember the contributions of members from the many different professions who comprise our membership; from the four nations of the UK;  from primary, community and acute care; and from those who have worked behind the scenes, in research, management or support roles. We know there have been many inspirational and selfless responses to the pandemic, including examples of creative service provision where individuals and departments have adapted to the extraordinary pressures.

We are asking BGS members to write a short tribute (no more than 50-100 words) celebrating the work of a colleague, or acknowledging the contribution of someone who may have died during the pandemic.

Please also provide a head and shoulders photograph of the colleague you are writing about if possible. You will need to obtain permission prior to sharing third party images and personal details unless the person is a historical figure.

Please email a short paragraph and photograph of your nominee to m [dot] stewart [at] bgs [dot] org [dot] uk (subject: Appreciation%20Wall)  to appear on the Appreciation Wall.

We look forward to hearing about your inspirational colleagues.
