During the COVID-19 pandemic, various research studies and trials have been launched to help protect older people and improve outcomes from the virus. PROTECT is a UK-wide clinical trial to identify treatments that can protect care home residents from developing COVID-19.

The PRINCIPLE trial aims to find treatments for COVID-19 for older people and stop them needing to go to hospital. The trial is recruiting participants through its website and GP practices across the UK.

The COGER study is collecting data to gain insight into the course of functional and medical recovery in older people affected by COVID-19 participating in rehabilitation across Europe.
