Dr Dhruti Hirani

Trainee England Council Representative

My name is Dhruti Hirani and I am currently an IMT2 Doctor in the Northwest London Deanery. I joined BGS as one of the England Council Trainee representatives in 2023.

My first job as a doctor was in Geriatrics and I had the privilege of working with some brilliant geriatricians. I enjoyed the holistic and pragmatic approach that was at the heart of the speciality, and loved hearing all the patients' stories about their younger years. Over the years, I have been able to appreciate the scope of the speciality, which is highly appealing.

I joined BGS as I wanted to gain an insight into issues faced by geriatric trainees and be involved in helping them have a voice. I also hope to help improve the speciality's appeal to prospective trainees to encourage more people to consider applying for higher training.
