Fit for frailty
In 2014, the BGS published Fit for Frailty, a publication which provided advice and suggested interventions to help people live as well as possible with frailty.
In the decade since it was published, much has changed in terms of the healthcare landscape, evidence base, and the mode of delivery of health and care for older people. As of summer 2024 the BGS is working on a new suite of resources which will supercede the original 2014 document with up-to-date information on frailty and comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA). We have therefore made the decision to remove the old publication from our website while we review and update the materials on this topic.
We do however have lots of current information for those interested in the topic of frailty:
- Our Frailty Hub signposts to a wealth of relevant material on frailty.
- The BGS blueprint document, Joining the dots, provides useful actions for the delivery of high-quality healthcare for older people living with frailty.
- Our recently updated frailty elearning module is currently free to both members and non-members for a limited time.
- Our guide on Front Door Frailty offers advice on setting up services that identify frailty at the point of arrival to hospital.
While the work to bring you this new and improved resource is underway, you may be interested in some of the related resources below.
