Current Trainees Council Vacancies

All posts are 2 years in duration and trainees join our hybrid Trainee Council meetings 3 times a year.

Policy and Communications Committee (PACC) Rep

We are seeking a new trainee rep for this important committee, which currently meets four times a year via Teams. PACC plays a vital role within the BGS, leading its work on policy and communications, helping to maintain the Society’s public and media profile and responding to policy related issues. PACC is a key source of guidance and information on policy, and actively engages with stakeholders and policy makers involved in the care of the frail older patient. As the Trainees Council policy rep, you will take part in this work and feed in the views and thoughts of the trainees.

Sustainability Rep

This is an exciting new role on the Trainees Council offering the opportunity to help promote examples of good practice in sustainability. As the sustainability rep you would help to gather examples of good practice in this area within NHS Trusts, and help profile these in the Trainees bulletin and on the BGS website. The post holder would work in support of the BGS Green Lead, Dr Rowan Harwood, the former Editor of Age and Ageing. The role involves taking the lead in preparing relevant content for the Trainees ebulletin and you would also sit on the BGS Meetings Committee, which meets four times a year.

Less than Full Time (LTFT) Representatives (2 vacancies)

We are seeking two new trainee reps for this role. LTFT Reps take the lead advocating for less than full time trainees within the BGS as well as sourcing information on any issues and opportunities to share with both the Council Committee and the wider BGS trainee membership. This is usually through blogs, social media and agenda articles. With such a large number of trainees training at less than full time this is an important role liaising with other committee members and ensuring their voice is represented.

If you would like to apply for any of these roles and would like to know more about what’s involved please contact Mark Stewart via M [dot] Stewart [at] bgs [dot] org [dot] uk in the first instance. The deadline for all applications is Friday 18 October at 5pm.
