"Dr Kelly Hunt and Dr Simon Kerr are consultants in charge of Ward 31 (acute care of older people), Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. 

"Kelly and Simon have borne the brunt of the COVID pandemic in our service. Their ward has been devoted to the care of older people with COVID for most of the last year, whilst also contributing to acute assessment at the front door of the hospital. Their leadership of their ward team, and endurance in these most difficult of times, has been a beacon to us all, and their determination to maintain high standards, innovate, and support their junior and senior colleagues deserves the highest praise."
