Reason for joining the BGS Trainee’s Council

I initially joined the BGS trainees council in 2020 as the representative for education and training with the aims of advocating for trainees when training had been impacted by covid-19 and also as we navigated the roll out of a new curriculum. As my term came to an end there was an opportunity to join the newly formed workforce committee as a trainee representative and this felt like a natural step to be the trainee voice in a new space.

Why trainees should get involved with the committee

Being involved with the BGS holds so many opportunities. By gaining an insight “behind the scenes” into how training is organised and developed it then allows the committee to make informed decisions about how to shape the future of our training. By getting involved in the committee you will meet people who share your passion for geriatric medicine and together you can work together to learn new skills and make changes that are important to you and your practice.
