Dr Marisa Worsfold
My name is Marisa and I'm an IMT1 (soon to be IMT2) based in the Severn deanery. I grew up in South Wales and graduated from the University of Bristol in 2018, going on to complete the Foundation Programme in Bath. I developed a passion for geriatrics during my F3 year where I taught care of the elderly to medical students and worked in geriatrics for the first time (alongside completing my PGCert in Medical Education). I have continued to develop this interest in further geriatrics placements as an F4 and now during IMT, and plan to apply for geriatrics specialty training after IMT.
Reasons for Joining the BGS and Trainees' Council
I joined the BGS to learn more about geriatrics and to have access to the wide range of resources and events that are on offer. Joining the Trainees' Council has been a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people and share stories, ideas and experiences.
In my role as Communications Rep, it is my responsibility to collate information for the Trainee Bulletin and highlight key events/vacancies/updates to BGS members. I am also working on resources for IMT applications (as the main route to geriatrics specialty training) and plan to get involved in developing other resources in the future.
