Dr Joyce Lau (Yun Yee)
Meeting and Events Representative
Role on the Council
To design and deliver high-quality educational opportunities - Working collaboratively with the BGS events team to ensure that educational events and conferences are tailored to the learning needs of BGS trainees.
Reason for joining the BGS Trainees Council
As a Geriatric Medicine Specialty Registrar in West Yorkshire and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), I am a passionate advocate for geriatric medicine and clinical education. Through my role as an Educational Meeting & Events Representative, I hope to contribute to the development of the next generation of exceptional geriatricians through impactful educational experiences.
My mission is to ensure trainee voices are heard and inform all aspects of BGS educational events. This includes:
Curating topics directly relevant to clinical practice, ensuring they bridge the gap between research and real-world experience.
Creating a vibrant learning atmosphere, where trainees can enjoy the process of learning and networking with peers.
Why Trainees should Get Involved with the Committee
The BGS Trainee Council offers a unique opportunity for trainees to shape the future of their field and advance their own professional development. Through collaborative learning, the council provides a platform to learn from fellow trainees with diverse experiences and backgrounds.
The council also connects you with a nationwide network of like-minded professionals. This network can be invaluable for finding mentors, collaborating on research, and staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in geriatric medicine.
It's a fantastic opportunity for any dedicated trainee!
