BGS Workforce Committee, BGS National Trainees’ Council meetings.
I am a ST4 London North West geriatric trainee currently working at Hillingdon Hospital. I initially joined the BGS in 2023 as an IMT representative for the workforce committee. The role has given me the opportunity to be part of initiatives on a larger scale and work with inspiring people from different clinical backgrounds to support retention and recruitment of those delivering healthcare for older people.
Why trainees should get involved with the committee
Being involved with the BGS exposes you to aspects of medicine that you might not otherwise come across and I believe will make you a more rounded clinician! It also gives you the opportunity to meet other dedicated and inspiring individuals across the field to work towards a common goal which can directly influence the future of Geriatric Medicine.
