About Dr Deb Gompertz

I have been a Complex Care/Frailty GP for seven years, a GP partner for sixteen years, (worked in A&E as an Acute Care GP), and previously obtained my MRCP.

I work in a Primary Care Network, across acute, community and voluntary sectors supporting the older population and those with complex needs in both proactive and reactive approaches.

I am passionate about improving healthcare for the older person with shared decision making and person centred care at the heart of what we do.

I want to have a pivotal role in supporting upcoming professionals from secondary and primary care showing the joy in this work.

As a GP I am well positioned to share my community knowledge to support other services, whilst actively learning about their roles.

Through the NHSE Clinical Entrepreneur Programme I have met national NHS leaders, and learnt skills to spread innovation.

The GeriGP group and BGS have been a positive influence for my learning and development.

Objectives

1. Promote cross-organisational work.

2. Grow the workforce which is urgently needed whilst promoting learning amongst allied professionals.

3. Extend our initial pilots of working with Adult Social Care in proactive, innovative ways.

I don’t underestimate this role but feel confident with the support of the BGS and my translatable skill set, that I can enthusiastically achieve this.

I have found “my tribe” within the BGS and it would be a privilege to influence health care for the older person whilst supporting our peers from secondary and primary care backgrounds.
