Reason for joining the BGS Trainees Council
Increasingly within the medical news and literature we are hearing of issues of recruitment and retention of the medical workforce. I believe that as a result of this, and an increasing desire amongst doctors to train and work flexibly the role of LTFT training is going to be of paramount importance in years to come. Yet, despite LTFT training becoming increasingly common, I frequently hear from my peers a myriad of issues relating to the experience.
Being a member of the BGS trainees committee will hopefully give me the opportunity to positively impact on the role of LTFT training and working within geriatrics, and improve the experience of LTFT working for current and future geriatricians.
Why trainees should get involved with the committee?
The committee is a great opportunity to mean other like-minded trainees, interested in the future of geriatrics as a speciality. It’s an exciting opportunity to contribute to the changing landscape of medicine whilst still in training.
